The Story Behind Maine Guide Outfitter
I'm Roland Tilton — a Master Maine Guide, retired Maine Game Warden, and lifelong Mainer. For 44 years I've worked, hunted, fished, and patrolled the woods and waters of Central Maine. That warden background isn't just a line on a resume — it's how I learned the country, the wildlife patterns, the safe way to run a hunt, and the rules every sportsman needs to follow.
Maine Guide Outfitter is a family-owned operation based in South China, Maine. I run every trip myself. No assistants, no hand-offs — when you book with us, you're in the blind, on the boat, or behind the beagles with me. That's the only way I know how to do it.
In the spring, we're chasing turkeys and casting for bass and landlocked salmon. Summer means fishing charters and scenic pontoon tours on China Lake aboard our 20-foot Bennington. Fall is deer season out of heated Banks Blinds overlooking food plots and fields I've scouted all year. Winter brings snowshoe hare hunts behind a pack of trained beagles, coyote hunts with hounds or over bait, and ice fishing on China Lake from our rental shacks with traps already set.
Whether you're a serious sportsman after a trophy or a family looking for an authentic Maine outdoor experience, I'd be proud to guide you. Give me a call at (207) 446-8980 and let's talk about what you want to do.
